Award winning Scottish crematorium sets out on a green mission to offset its LPG usage

The 2019 best crematorium winner of the Scottish Funeral Awards, the Clyde Coast & Garnock Valley Crematorium has now become one of the most environmentally friendly crematoriums in Scotland.

In their journey to become more sustainable the crematorium has begun to use carbon which has been neutrally generated from renewable resources. The energy input switch has offset the entire facilities carbon emissions generated through the use of LPG (Liquefied petroleum gas)

Jeremy Hamilton, Director of the Clyde Coast & Garnock Valley Crematorium, told Largs and Millport News that they take environmental responsibilities very seriously. The crematorium plants trees every year, collects rainwater for reuse and they have invested in low energy heating and lighting systems. In addition, the crematory’s emissions are filtered through an advanced filtering system, to reduce the release of harmful gasses into the atmosphere. 

The Clyde Coast & Garnock Valley Crematorium sets a new standard for others,  not only crematoriums in the country, but the world as its ion the way to realize its mission of becoming the most environmentally friendly crematory in the country.
