Martin Thompson & Son Cremation & Funeral Service acquires Thompson’s Harveson & Cole Funeral Home

Started in 1911, Thompson Harveson & Cole is one of the few remaining family-owned and managed funeral homes in the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex.

The owner, Guy Thompson, joined Harveson and Cole in 1948 and by 1957 was named vice president and general manager. By 1981, Guy and Kathleen Thompson bought the business and it has continued to be managed by their daughter to this day.

While the deal was closed on April 10th, Thompson’s Harveson & Cole Funeral home purchase was announced on April 22 by the new owner and son of Guy and Kathleen Thomas, Martin Thompson.

Martin worked for his father at Thompson’s Harveson & Cole Funeral Home for 22 years, before opening his own funeral home in Grapevine, Texas in 1998.

He then opened the only Funeral Home in Keller, Texas where he was a majority owner and was a part-owner in the “Blessing Funeral Home” in Mansfield. In 2006, he sold his funeral homes and Martin and his son (Jon Thompson) took over the management of another funeral home in Grapevine.

Martin has commented in the announcement; “I’m thankful to my sister, Cindy, for being such a great steward of the family business at Thompson’s Harveson & Cole.  As my son Jon and I carry on our family’s legacy, we are grateful for her leadership and wish her the best.”

The combined companies will be called Thompsons Cremations & Funeral Services. Martin Thomson, his wife, Janice Thompson, and Jon Thompson comprise the Thompsons leadership team.
