Third generation family owned funeral home in Connecticut expands

Death care industry - Third generation family owned funeral home in Connecticut expands

Milford Connecticut will be seeing a shakeup in the death care industry as the historic Smith Funeral Home, which has been a fixture of the community since 1886, goes under new ownership. Current owners Winthrop and Bonnie Smith announced the funeral home business will be sold to Smith Funeral Home Business to The Gregory F. Doyle Funeral Home of Devon. The deal includes the current business, but not the real estate.

The Gregory F. Doyle Funeral Home was started in 1951 by Dorothy and Gregory Doyle. More than half a century later and the area has seen countless changes, but the Gregory F. Doyle Funeral Home continues to be a strong pillar for the community, being run by a third generation.

Moriah Doyle Britt, the granddaughter of the founders of the Gregory F. Doyle Funeral Home will continue the legacy of her family and the smiths by overseeing the families of the greater Milford area.
