Italy has imposed a country wide lock down after the government has stepped up its regulations concerning the coronavirus. The measures will last, at least, until the 3rd of April.
Sports games and concerts are cancelled. Ski resorts, schools, universities, gyms, and sport facilities have all been closed. All health personnel are suspended from taking holidays, as it’s now all hands on deck.
Weddings and funerals have been suspended nationwide. The extreme measures are expected to help prevent the spread of the coronavirus in the country. The exact details and consequences of suspending funerals on a nationwide scale remains unclear. However, the measures seem to be wise as in Haro, Spain where tens of people where infected at a funeral.
Italy currently has the highest number of infected people in Europe with over 9,172 confirmed cases and a death toll of 463. The region Lombardy has so far been hit the hardest with the most infected and is on complete lockdown. Anyone caught trying to enter or leave the region without permission will get a fine.
